2010 was the kickoff for Nyjolene Grey’s Solo Project.
Her ‘sound’ is a combination of soul, jazz and funk.Nyjolene started singing at a young age in various choirs. In 1998 she came in contact with John Keys. Together they wrote a few demos and these landed her a record-deal with Columbia Records.
After signing with the label, she released the single “Always Got Your Back”.From 2001 till 2005 Nyjolene toured as a Bluette in the Dutch musical ”The Official Tribute To The Blues Brothers”. She performed alongside Frans van Deursen, Bob Fosco en Jim de Groot a.o.
Further more she was backing vocalist in the band ‘Rose’ and sang backings on the cds of Rose, Boris and Andrew Roachford (Roachford). In 2007 she visited ‘Java Jazz’ in Jakarta as backing vocalist for ‘Daughters of Soul’. The Daughters were Sandra St. Victor, Indira Khan, Lalah Hathaway, Joyce Kennedy & Nona Hendryx.
In 2005 Nyjolene created the jazz-show ‘Lady Grey’, in honor of Billy Holiday a.k.a ‘Lady Day’) and the soul cover-band ‘Wicked!’. With both musical productions she performs at private venues.
In 2010 Nyjolene decided to launch her own music.
She wrote 13 demo’s, created her band and started playing. The result is devastating!
